Colour Field Painting
is a form of
Abstract Expressionism…

(Abstract...in that it’s completely outside subject matter...
taking one beyond the world we know in the conscious mind.)

...begun in the late 1940’s and early 50’s, and referring to the work of Newman, Rothko, Still, and to various subsequent American Painters such as Louis, Noland, Stella, and Frankenthaler.

I believe, these days, that we are stimulated far beyond our evolution. The sheer volume of images overwhelms us.

Colour brings focus and peace to our senses. It is the most powerful tool in a painter’s hands… and for sensitive viewers can have enormous effect on their eyes, psyche, and feelings.

Colour Field Painting is meant to be a pure experience of colour… a contemplative art that forces you to just look at the joy of absolute colour...a visual un-assault…a full-immersion, sensual moment for the eye!
